Opinion among SEO experts is split about 50/50, but those who say it's worthwhile have some arguments that make the $300 investment seem like a trivial cost if you've got the budget for it.

This isn't really a major selling point, but it's worth noting: a Yahoo Directory listing isn't a single backlink, it's 12 high authority backlinks. That means a lot more linkjuice than the initial arguments made it sound like, and that can be worth quite a bit.
